The amiibo compatibility has been demonstrated for Hyrule Warriors, and as you might have expected, it's all about item unlocks. Using the Link amiibo will unlock the Spinner weapon from Twilight Princess, but using any other amiibo will award you a random material, weapon, or rupee. That's a nice surprise, considering that Nintendo previously said that only the Link amiibo would work.
