Dragon Quest Heroes Lands in Japan on February 26, 2015

October 30, 2014 by Tony Ponce

New gameplay videos lack the usual Dynasty Warrior mass battles.

The Dragon Quest series is coming back to Sony platforms in style with the Omega Force-developed Dragon Quest Heroes. Though it's being produced by the Dynasty Warriors team, Heroes is not your traditional Warriors title. From the gameplay clips above and below, uploaded by YouTuber remoon7, it's more of a standard action RPG with wide spaces and smaller enemy encounters (read: no throngs of 1000 monsters at once). Ideally, this means battles against even low-level monsters will have a much more meaningful impact.

We have a launch date for the game now as well: PS4 and PS4 will get their questing on in Japan on February 26, 2015. There will also be a special silver PS4 bundle coming earlier on December 11. It will include a download code so that you can obtain the game once it finally launches. I guess Sony is just aching for those holiday sales and can't wait until the game is actually ready.

Again, no word on if or when Dragon Quest Heroes is coming out West, but it would be in Square Enix's best interest to seriously start trying to expand the franchise outside of Japan's borders after several years of leaving the rest of the world in the dark. In the meantime, enjoy the second gameplay clip below.
