Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare director Michael Condrey has shared new details regarding prestiging.
@tj_holguin not exactly, but you do get to select one item to permanently unlock after prestiging.

He was asked online if the game will have Prestige Tokens, as they appeared in Call of Duty Black Ops 2. These tokens were a virtual currency, that allowed you to choose several items, including custom classes from Create-A-Class, custom emblems and callsigns, Weapon XP and Double XP. You can even use it to reset statistics at Prestige Level 20.
However, Condrey explained that it does not work exactly the same forCall of Duty: Advanced Warfare . Instead, after prestiging, you get to choose one item that is unlocked permanently. This would simplify the process, and also take players out of thinking of their upgrades as coming from a storefront system. While this essentially makes no difference to gameplay, it changes how players think about their upgrades. It also closes the door on potential monetization on this end.
With Sledgehammer Games at the helm, they are willing, even eager, to change things up for the Call of Duty series, and they may have seen this as an opportunity to make the game simpler for players.
