Dragon Age 3 Inquisition is set in a colorful and vibrant world. A fan has shared eight minutes of PC gameplay footage, and the world truly shines on PC.
The footage shows the Inquisition finishing two missions; one named A Fallen Sister, and then finding and destroying a Fade Rift. Interestingly, the Fade Rift glows an ethereal green. Is this a stylistic choice on Bioware’s part? It would make more sense for Rifts to be jet as the night, but perhaps Bioware found it didn’t work well with the colorful world. It may also have proven to be a hindrance to gameplay.
Actual gameplay itself is frenetic, and leaves no room for exposition. Switching between characters on the fly seems intuitive, and at least this beta shows that AI is good enough that you should not have to worry about any one character screwing up when you leave him or her behind.
When you’re not in the middle of action, however, you will do a lot of walking. Thedas is a big world, and Bioware’s ambition may have adversely affected gameplay itself, as just the act of getting around the world is time consuming. It must be noted that this footage did not show the Inquisition using horses, or any fast travel shortcuts or tricks.
Dragon Age 3 Inquisition will be released on November 18 on Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
