Kingdom Hearts 3: Nomura Bringing Burning Anger, Passion To KH3 Development

October 2, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Nomura drops a fiery message that many fans interpret to allude to Final Fantasy 15, but could just be Nomura being kitschy.

Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura shared a surprising message to people who bought Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMiX on physical retail today.

The Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMiX bundle came with a book called the Kingdom Hearts Memorial Ultimania, and this is where he shares his message.

Nomura describes himself as someone with burning anger in his heart, that he is harnessing into the games he makes. In this sense, he feels like Xenahort, and other Kingdom Hearts villains, and less like Sora at the moment.

He does point out it has been (roughly) ten years since the last game, and the story has yet to receive resolution. He also tempers these fiery statements by stating he had the same feeling making the earlier Kingdom Hearts games. He is planning a lot of challenges for Sora to overcome. However, Nomura also alludes to the kind of passion Sora and his friends exude. He promises not to lose to darkness and to keep Sora’s journey going.

Everyone has been speculating that Nomura is dropping sublimating his feelings about dropping out of Final Fantasy 15 development. However, it can also be arguably seen as a pithy, kitschy statement from the developer, just reaching out to his fanbase.

What motives did you think Nomura had making this statement? You can read Nomura’s full message below. Kingdom Hearts 3 is in development for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Message from Tetsuya Nomura

If I had to pick, I am a person more on the dark side like Xehanort and co., I harness the burning anger in my heart into what I create. Kingdom Hearts III’s current development explodes very much in this sense. Each time, it’s a battle with Sora and co. who are the exact opposite of myself, it’s been over 10 years and yet we haven’t reached a conclusion.

This battle will surely last longer.

In Kingdom Hearts III as well, I am scheming many challenges that Sora and his friends must overcome, because I myself cannot lose either. And in preparation for the great battle that lies ahead, we have this one book that looks back on their entire journey.

When I think about it, I had an explosive mindset when I made the first Kingdom Hearts as well.

Thus when I look back at all the material, I feel that fever again. Fans who will continue the journey so far alongside Sora and his friends will also recall their own feverish enthusiasm. With that passion, we will not lose to darkness, and Sora’s journey will continue onwards.

The journey still continues, but I would be overjoyed if you stuck with us until the very end.
