Overkill Software have revealed the plot to the surprise crossover DLC Payday 2: Hotline Miami.
The plot twist that makes this crossover possible is the appearance of a new villain, a Russian mobster known as the Commissar.
The Payday gang needs to break Old Hoxton out, and The Dentist knows how to get him out. However, he wants them to do him a few favors in turn, and it seems his plans will bring it all together.
First, he wants the gang to do a very non-heist job; go after the corrupt district attorney. This is only a prelude to the real mission; going after the Commissar in his hideout. The Dentist and his sources are working on verifying his location, at which point they have a gameplan in mind.
This is where the Hotline comes in. The Hotline, and presumably Jacket himself, joins up with the gang for still-undisclosed reasons. The gang will also get in touch with the source that supplies their animal masks, implying that, like Jacket, they can acquire special powers and abilities wearing the masks as well.
The clincher? This is only Day One of the DLC. It will be fun to see if Overkill and Dennaton have planned a surprise twist or two before this crossover DLC ends.
