While the ending of Halo 4 might have left some fans scratching their heads, the game was no less a worthy successor to the original trilogy. In the Halo: Escalation comic series, some light has been cast on the game's ending.
While previously thought to be killed by Master Chief's own hand, the Didact appears to be alive and well. The ambiguous nature of the Didact's supposed 'death' left many uncertain of the forerunner's fate and some were already expecting its return. This prediction seems even more apt when you consider that Halo 4 is just the first in the new trilogy. It will be hard for 343 Industries to kill off their main enemy before the second installment has even hit store shelves.
Considering that the Didact was such an interesting enemy, we can not help but be excited about this. So long as the Didact remains alive and well, we are essentially promised more unique environments through which to trek. Furthermore, this should indicate that we will get to do battle with a number of cool, new enemies.
The real question is how Halo 5 will handle the gap of information made by this comic installment, although this could be as simple as employing a five minute introduction when the game releases late next year.
