In an interview recently conducted by Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Durant has admitted that he does not play as himself when competing against friends in NBA 2K15. While
"But you, you play as you?" Fallon asked the basketball star.
"No, that's kind of arrogant," replied Durant, which profited the room a copious amount of laughter. Even Andy Samberg could not help but grin at Durant's sense of humor.
After some more witty banter, Fallon asked Durant, "Who do you play as?"
After a few faux attempts to avoid the question, Durant said sourly, "Alright, Lebron."
This elicited more laughter from the crowd, as the two went on to talk about the different outcomes that could come out of playing against one another. The humor comes off as your average talk show banter, but it is good to see high-profile players staying humble. This is especially so in a very popular sport like basketball, where paychecks are high and image is everything – next to your playing ability, of course.
While it appears that both Durant and Fallon have received copies of NBA 2K15 to enjoy and publicize, the rest of us will have to wait for the titular sports game to release on October 7 later this year. While this release date is only a month away, the industry is lacking in new, quality sports titles at the moment. Barring the release of Madden 15 back in August, there really has not been much, which makes this game very important to the genre as a spectrum.
