Contra Clone Super Cyborg Is on Steam Greenlight

September 25, 2014 by Tony Ponce

Or you could play it right now by purchasing it from Desura.

It doesn't seem like Konami has much interest in making more Contra games in the near future — or anything that isn't Metal Gear or Pro Evolution Soccer, for that matter. What are fans to do? Make their own Contra, of course! That's exactly what Russian developer Artur Games did when it produced Super Cyborg, which makes no secret of its source inspiration. The studio has just announced that the game is on Steam Greenlight, so give it a vote if you are ready for more hardcore alien action.

But if you can't wait until Steam users get off their rears to click a button a bunch of times, you can purchase the game for $4.99 right now from Desura. Super Cyborg was originally released on July 17, 2014, and it managed to slip under my radar all this time. Hopefully the Greenlight campaign will give it more exposure.

According to NeoGAF, Super Cyborg players have access to a charge shot but lack the ability to stand in place while firing in eight directions. On the whole, though, the game plays like Super C with some twists. If that sounds gravy, hop on board!
