Cyberpunk 2077 Tops PlayStation Store Charts For June

July 12, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

After reaching the PlayStation storefront once again, the CD Projekt Red RPG Cyberpunk 2077 surpassed the competition.

For years leading up to its release in 2020, CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 was heavily anticipated by fans all around the world. The folks over at the studio had a big following thanks to their incredible work for The Witcher franchise and it had plenty of players anticipating the same level of quality for their next project. Rather than taking players to another fantasy medieval setting, CD Projekt Red opted to go into the future.

In Cyberpunk 2077 we were thrown into a rough location known as Night City which thrives on crime, greed, and corrupt corporations. Here players step into the role of V a mercenary of sorts within Night City. V gets a big break with a massive odd job that would lead to some even bigger and better-paying gigs, but things go sideways. I won’t spoil anything here in case you haven’t played the game yet, but this is a narrative-driven RPG. You will meet plenty of interesting characters along with partaking in quite a few side quests.

Fans had to wait quite a long time for this game and it was even delayed a few times including some delays that happened after the game went gold. Regardless, the title finally dropped in December of 2020 which left plenty of underwhelmed players booting the game up. There were a ton of technical issues and the base model PlayStation 4 along with Xbox One consoles couldn’t even properly play it. In fact, Sony took the game off the PlayStation Store for several months.

CD Projekt Red managed to get their game back onto the PlayStation Store after a series of patches were released. Currently, the developers have reached a satisfactory state for the game and if you own a PlayStation 4 you can once again pick up the title digitally. However, it might come as a bit of a surprise to find that Cyberpunk 2077 was the top seller for the PlayStation Storefront in June. That’s beating out quite a few other video game titles and even more interesting, Cyberpunk 2077 was put back into the storefront towards the end of June so that’s quite a milestone to achieve in a very limited amount of time. While CD Projekt Red managed to get their game back on all digital storefronts once again and have reached what they feel is a stable game across all available platforms, it’s now a waiting game for DLC to finally hit this title which might give players another reason to jump back into Night City.
