GTA 5 PC, PS4 & Xbox One Release Date Announcement Likely Coming Soon

September 9, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Two play-testers have been trying out the PC version on Steam this month.

The release date for Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One looks set to be announced soon, as it seems two game testers have been trying the game out on Steam this month, according to the database for Valve's games client.

Specifically, they were playing the PC version of GTA 5 last Saturday for five to six hours, which are fairly lengthy sessions and, taken alongside recent registry updates for the game, suggest we may soon have a release date on our hands.

Of course, this doesn't mean we should expect to be playing it tomorrow by any means but it does look likely that we'll have official word from TakeTwo and Rockstar soon.

There have been some rumours that the port may be delayed and TakeTwo's CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated that he wants the game to be as good as it possibly can be, even if that means it needs to be pushed back. Despite this, Rockstar has said that the development of the game for the new platforms remains on track.

Mid-November seems like the most likely release window if the game is still coming this year, and recent retailer listings seem to have confirmed as much, but either way, we'll update you when we have news from Rockstar or Take-Two.

News that Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One was announced at Sony's E3 press conference in June and saves from the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions can be transferred over.
