WWE 2K15 Is 2K’s Take On Reinventing Wrestling Games

September 7, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

2K Sports recognized the need to push the franchise forward after releasing WWE 2K14.

2K Sports shared some insights on the development of WWE 2K15 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They saw it as an opportunity to reinvent wrestling games.

2K Sports also treated it as a chance to reignite the franchise, as well as to introduce it to the newest consoles. They recognized after releasing WWE 2K14 that they had to push the game’s sequel even further. They also went back and looked at where wrestling and wrestling games had been before.  With this in mind, they rewrote all the technical drafts.

They went through some unusual pains getting the facial scans for the wrestlers. They had to chase many individual performers on the road while they were doing events. The wrestlers were impressed with how much better the new technology they used was.

2K Sports also went on the road with Michael Cole and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. Fans will be interested to know that they showed the two recording lines together. 2K Sports’ setup allowed them to play off each other live, and this is sure to be reflected in the final product.

Lance Archer has not yet been officially announced, but his name has come up in a recent article naming the roster of WWE 2K15. This is likely to be a mistake, as Hoyt stopped working for the company in 2010. Hoyt currently competes in NJPW. He did appear in one WWE game, WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011, but there is no reason to believe that he will be in the new game.

WWE 2K15 will be released on October 28 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
