Minecraft PS4 Edition Released, With PS3 Upgrade Option

September 4, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

This is for the builders.

Minecraft fans will be happy to know that the game will be released on the PlayStation 4, where it will be available from the PlayStation Store this Thursday at 12pm Pacific for a price of $19.99. The game is already out in European territories.

Players looking for the ultimate Minecraft experience that’s not on the PC will be able to experience a world 36 times larger than the ones you’re used to looking at on the PS3 system. Existing players will also be able to import their worlds from the PS3 to the PS4 Edition, allowing them to continue their work without much hassle.

Staying true to their promise, Sony has announced that anyone who previously purchased the PS3 Edition (disc or digital) will be able to upgrade to the PS4 Edition for a small fee of $4.99.

Here’s how that works:

The PlayStation Vita version of the game is forthcoming.
