The game is afoot in this new Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate gameplay video. While at PAX this past weekend, IGN got its hands on the demo and engaged in a four-player hunt. There's sadly no direct feed audio, but from the footage itself, it's got all the nail-biting mayhem of MonHuns past. You do get to see a bit of the new terrain traversal abilties when hunters pursue their prey by climbing straight up a cliff wall.
Western fans will have to wait until next year to enjoy the next chapter of Capcom's landmark franchise. However, Japan will be able to enjoy Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate when it launches on October 11. Not so coincidentally, the game shares its release date with the New 3DS — obviously that means there will be a New 3DS hardware bundle.
When Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate came out in Japan, it launched alongside the Circle Pad Pro accessory that gave the 3DS a second analog pad and two extra shoulder buttons for a more fluid control experience. The New 3DS comes with those additions built in, making Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate the perfect fit for the device. So perfect, in fact, that when Capcom shows off the game at this month's Tokyo Game Show, it will do so exclusively on New 3DS models.
The rest of the world will just have to sit back until the game — as well as the new portable — arrives in 2015.
