Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Will End Development After Next DLC Character

June 28, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

The latest Super Smash Bros. installment will finally come to an end.

Since the release of the Nintendo 64, we have got an incredible fighting video game. Nintendo has been the top development studio when it comes to providing platformer fighters. There have been several installments to the beloved Super Smash Bros. franchise and while there are alternative platformer fighters out there, fans have continued to gravitate towards the iconic Nintendo IP. That’s especially true with the latest installment thanks to the amount of content that the developers have been adding into the game.

Super Smash Bros. has generally added quite a few guest fighters into the mix that are not necessarily attached to the Nintendo brand. That’s especially true with the latest installment, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which added every fighter that was attached to the game franchise in the past. So not only was there an incredibly stacked roster available in the game as is, the studio wasn’t done with adding even more fighters into the mix. Over the past several years we’ve seen several iconic characters added into the game from a variety of game franchises.

Currently, the latest character installment is Kazuya from the iconic Tekken fighting video game franchise. We know that another DLC character is coming out but that’s going to be the last. This was reconfirmed recently by Masahiro Sakurai who was the director behind Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Recently, the director behind the game took to YouTube to highlight Kazuya joining the battle, in which the topic of the next and final character.

We don’t know just who the next character will be but it will apparently be revealed and released for players at some point this year. Who knows just how Nintendo will top this installment when the next iteration is ready for release. At the very least, it looks like this game will continue to be enjoyed for years to come despite the content finally ending out within 2021.
