Japanese Fans of Sega’s long-running series of gangster-themed games, Yakuza, will be happy to know that they’ve announced a brand new addition to the franchise. Titled Yakuza Zero, the game will be released on both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, but only in Japan.
There’s no word on whether the game, like its two predecessors that never made it to the United States or Europe, will ever be able to lay their hands on the game unless they import it from an online store and play the game in its original Japanese format.
Details for Yakuza Zero remain scant at the moment, with only a teaser logo showcasing the game’s title. Sega says they plan to elaborate on Yakuza Zero with a proper reveal, replete with details, at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2014, set to take place next month on September 18 to 21.
Yakuza Zero will mark the debut of the franchise for new-generation hardware, and there’s a slim chance that it will make its way to the US, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that. Maybe a petition from fans of the series to the company might help to inspire them to do so.
