The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Release Date and Pre-Order Bonuses Announced

August 21, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter nears release.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter has been in development for quite some time now at The Astronauts. The game made a brief appearance at Sony’s PlayStation 4-driven conference at gamescom 2014, where the game was announced for a PS4 release next year. The good news is that PC gamers won’t have to wait that long, as the game has just been announced for release on the PC next month—on September 25.

Along with the release date announcement, its developers at The Astronauts have launched an official dedicated website for the game, releasing with it a 13 minute long gameplay video (seen below) that goes into no small amount of depth about the game, which has remained under wraps for quite sometime now. We’ve seen screenshots of the game, but there have rarely been any details revealed about its gameplay.

I personally interviewed one of its creators, Adrian Chmielarz, early last year. You can check that out here.

As we discussed, the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired game involves the tale of a detective named Paul Prospero, who is in search of a missing boy named Ethan Carter, who saw something he probably shouldn’t have. During his investigation, Prospero encounters all manner of otherworldly events.

In any case, players who pre-order the game (either on Steam or Good Old Games) ahead of its release will receive a special pre-order edition which includes a soundtrack, HD wallpapers, a digital map, a making of PDF album, and a digital poster that you can print out. The game is set to cost $19.99.

You can visit the official site here.
