Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Not Coming to Wii U, Sledgehammer Confirms

August 21, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Sledgehammer’s Michael Condrey has confirmed that there are no plans to bring the game to the Nintendo platform.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is coming to every major platform with the exception of the Nintendo Wii U. The latest Call of Duty title from Sledgehammer Games is the latest title to skip the much maligned and sadly under-appreciated platform, which is home to a few select Nintendo titles and very little else.

Fielding questions by fans of the game on Twitter, Sledgehammer Games’ co-founder Michael Condrey responded to a question about whether the upcoming game would make its way over to the Wii U. He responded: “No, no Wii U,” and further elaborated that it was a decision made by the higher ups at the game’s publisher Activision.

He also added that the game’s development focus was on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4—all new-gen platforms, in other words.

Given the fact that both Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 were released on the Nintendo Wii U, it comes as little surprise that fans would be expecting the new title to also be released on the platform, as there happens to be a rather sizable base of players on the Wii U.

Considering his response to the question, there’s little chance of us seeing a later release down the line, either—so don’t get your hopes up.

In related news, be sure to check out the latest weapons and details about the game.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released on the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 4, 2014.
