Unlock Halo 5 Rewards by Watching the Halo Channel

August 20, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Microsoft has rewards for viewers of the newly announced Halo Channel.

Halo Channel

You may be a big fan ofHalo, but are you a big enough enthusiast to tune in to the newly announced Halo Channel? To incentivize would-be viewers to watch the channel, Microsoft and 343 Industries is promising rewards for Halo 5 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection for those who view the channel and interact with its shows like the Ridley Scott-produced Halo: Nightfall.

343 Industries executive producer Kiki Wolfkill revealed at gamescom last week (via Polygon) that the Halo Channel is designed to encourage viewer interactivity with its programming like Halo: Nightfall and other yet-to-be-announced shows and activities.

Viewers can unlock ‘challenges’ by watching the series and in doing so, attain loot for the upcoming games. The unlocks you attain for the Halo 5 beta will carry into Halo 5.

This is all aided by the channel’s built-in encyclopedia. Upon reaching the end of a show, it’ll show you all that you’ve unlocked and experienced. There are also “secondary story arcs” that serve as another means of interactivity between the shows, comics, books, and games.

The Halo Channel is designed to stream Halo-related content, including already available shows from Microsoft and Rooster Teeth, live streams from Twitch, and a weekly update from the developers at 343 Industries called The Bulletin.

The Halo Channel will be available to download on the Xbox One, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices beginning November 11.
