Nintendo of Europe has announced an official European release date for Sonic Boom: Rise of the Lyric for Wii U and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for the 3DS. Both games are slated for release on November 21, according to the Nintendo of Europe official Twitter account.
The Wii U game is being developed LA studio Big Red Button while Sanzaru Games is handling the 3DS title.
North American fans will be able to play the 3DS and Wii U versions on the 11th and 18th of November respectively.
“Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal star the electrifying team – Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and newcomer Sticks – who will band together to defeat both familiar and new powerful enemies,” reads the press release.
“The games are part of the brand-new Sonic Boom initiative, an all-new Sonic experience that will usher in new gameplay based on action-adventure combat, new characters and environments as well as new storylines that will carry through the franchise’s first CG-animated series.”
Beyond the release dates, the company has released a gamescom trailer for Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. You’ll hear Sonic’s new voice for the first time ever in the trailer.
The 3DS title is said to be a return to Sonic’s roots with some innovations to the gameplay, while the Wii U title is a major departure from usual Sonic the Hedgehog fare.
