Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a curious game, in that it's an interquel that bridges the first two games rather than being a proper successor. As we've shared before, this installment will chronicle Handsome Jack's rise to villainy as you take on the role of his four henchmen, all who have been featured as NPCs in past games. To give fans some deeper insight into development, 2K Games has begun releasing behind-the-scenes videos — the most recent one landed yesterday.
In the first episode above, we see the team justify the decision not to go ahead with Borderlands 3 and how 2K Australia was assigned development duties following their work on BioShock Infinite. Meanwhile, the main Borderlands studio, Gearbox Software, is hanging back in a supervisory role.
In the second episode below, the team discusses the setting of Pre-Sequel: Pandora's moon Elpis. Players will be able to jump higher due to the moon's lower gravity, laser weapons will be accessible for the first time in the series, and so on. Speaking of low gravity, you'll be able to quickly descend from the air using a technique that the team affectionately calls "butt slamming," which impacts any enemy in close proximity.
Enjoy both videos, then prepare for the arrival of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on PS3, Xbox 360, Windows, OS X, and Linux this October 14.
