Assassins Creed Unity: New Gameplay Details, Listen To Actual Game Music

August 8, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

We have a little treat for you fans at the very end of this little update.

We have fresh new details for Assassin’s Creed Unity, coming from a magazine interview.

  • First off, it turns out the game has been in the making since 2010, with a small group breaking off from Brotherhood.
  • You can level up skills, meaning people an upgrade to fit roles. One can be the tank, while another can be the stealthy player.
  • Customization extends to each armor/clothing piece, including legs, boots, forearms, chest, hood, and mask. Each piece of clothing and armor will have unique attributes.
  • Coop missions can be done solo, with multiple difficulties. You can also go through the whole word under coop.
  • Ubisoft actually picked up a renewed focus with the coop, because they desired to achieve parity with the multiplayer and single player campaign experience. They realized this was lacking in prior games, and so now the switch between SP and MP is seamless.
  • So, the missions now adjust to the necessary foibles of coop, so you do not end up auto failing missions because of them. If one of you get spotted, the mission adjusts for that.
  • No more haystacking it, you will now be able to rapidly descend from buildings on you own.
  • The transition in and out of interiors is a significant game mechanic. You can run away from guards, sure, but there can always be guards and enemies inside the rooms you enter. You can hide in windows, and cover up your assassinations.
  • Stealth mode allows you to move quickly and soften your steps. Pair this with the new cover system that allows you to peek and makes it easier to hide.
  • Guard AI has been modified to facilitate gameplay as well, although I don’t know that this is a good thing.  Basically, the guards won’t always know where you are anymore, but will search your last known location first. Of course, in some contexts either make more sense.
  • NPCs will also react to each other, so that thugs going after you can draw the cops. Subsequently, you can direct the thugs and cops to each other.
  • If this aspect has been made easier, well, combat difficulty has been ramped up. You will have to note what weapons enemies have, and parrying and dodging will be important. You might be able to take two to three people, but not five on your own.

We’re ending this post now with a little bonus for you; some actual tracks for the game. Click them below and enjoy. Assassin's Creed Unity is set for release on October 28th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
