Blizzard Veteran Adrian Luff Joins Stardock

August 4, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Luff is now working from Stardock’s Austin office on cloud-based Project Tachyon

Longtime Blizzard engineer Adrian Luff has joined Sins of a Solar Empire maker Stardock and will work out of the company's Austin office on cloud based platform Project Tachyon.

Luff, who spent 17 years at the World of Warcraft maker, said of his appointment as director of platform architecture,“Stardock has a long legacy of innovating from the ground up and this is a fantastic opportunity to continue that tradition. Cloud-based computing lets us do things that used to only be possible for the biggest-budget games – now we don’t have to fly around the world and spend millions of dollars setting up hardware like I’ve done in the past.”

Project Tachyon is designed to be scaled up to meet demand as needed thanks to its cloud nature and will make use of Valve's Steamworks.

Galactic Civilizations III, Mohawk Games’ Offworld Trading Company, and Oxide Games’ unannounced title will all use Project Tachyon which will roll out in early 2015.
