Far Cry 4 creators Ubisoft have put together a new developer diary—the second in a series—about the upcoming game to discuss the studio’s inspiration for creating the land of Kyrat, in which most, if not all of the game takes place.
The developer diary focuses on the geographical research that helped inspire the game’s open world environment, which trades the savannah of Far Cry 2 and the tropical jungles of Far Cry 3 with snow-capped peaks and lush valleys and forests of the fictional Himalayan land of Kyrat.
According to the developer diary, Ubisoft’s developers traveled to Nepal “to draw inspiration and create authentic Kyratic characters and environments native to the region.”

Far Cry 4 is set a November 18 release on the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4.
