Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Now with Cross-Region Multiplayer

July 31, 2014 by Tony Ponce

North American and European versions can play together locally or online.

Capcom recently unveiled the box art for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on 3DS, which you can see above. Along with that news, however, was an even more exciting piece of information regarding the game's multiplayer: Both the North American and European versions will be able to play together either locally or online!

If you played Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, you'll remember that the mutliplayer options were rather strange in the beginning. You could go online with the Wii U version, but the 3DS was restricted to local play unless you used the Wii U as a relay. Online was limited to your current region, but an update a short while after the title's launch allowed for Americans and Europeans to hunt side by side. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate gets the online component correct from the get-go — the local cross compatibility is just extra icing.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will dominate the 3DS in early 2015.
