The Mysterious Murasame Castle Coming to US on 3DS Virtual Console

July 28, 2014 by Tony Ponce

Murasame’s hero, Takamaru, will also be an assist trophy in Smash Bros. 4.

If the name "Takamaru" sounds familiar, it's because you may remember playing the Takamaru's Ninja Castle event in Nintendo Land. That attraction was based on a game called The Mysterious Murasame Castle, which was only ever released in Japan for the Famicom Disk System. Essentially, it's The Legend of Zelda in an Edo period setting.

Nintendo of America announced over the weekend as part of its weekly challenge updates that the game will grace our shores for the first time via Virtual Console:

Our next #Nintendo Challenge will be Mysterious Murasame Castle! It's coming to the US for the first time on Virtual Console soon.

— Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) July 27, 2014

It'll be available for the 3DS, as demonstrated at the 5:57:00 mark in this SDCC stream.

Coinciding with this announcement is the reveal that Takamaru will be joining Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U as an assist trophy:

Remember, Smash will come to 3DS on October 3 and to Wii U during the winter. Meanwhile, The Mysterious Murasame Castle has no release date just yet.
