GOG.com Now Supports Linux, Offers 50+ Games

July 24, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Over 50 games are now available on Linux via GOG.com.

Good Old Games (GOG.com) has just launched Linux support for over 50 games in its library, some of which are exclusive to Linux.

The DRM-free digital distributor offers games like Pirates! Gold Plus, Flatout 1 and 2, and CLARC, all of which are available for the Linux platform for the first time in history.

As promised by an announcement they made earlier this year to deliver Linux games to the platform, GOG.com now offers over 50 of the 100 games it promised to port over to Linux by the fall.

Additionally, 23 of those titles are officially Linux-compatible for the first time ever thanks to GOG-made custom builds. GOG.com will provide support for the two most popular Linux distributions: Ubuntu and Mint with DEB installers, but other Linux gamers will also be able to download distro-independent archives so they can easily run the games.

The list of playable Linux games includes everything from classic DOSBox titles like Rise of the Triad, to more recent and indie releases including Kentucky Route Zero, CLARC, and Gods Will Be Watching. Additionally, as a welcome gift for the Linux community, some of the classic titles are getting an up to 75% Linux launch discount (PC and Mac users are welcome, too) until the end of the week.

The full list of Linux-supported titles complete with all additional information is available here.
