New DLC for The Last of Us is set to be announced this week, Naughty Dog community manager strategist Eric Monacelli has revealed on the PlayStation Blog.
"We'll be revealing some upcoming DLC and streaming a basic introduction to the multiplayer mode, Factions, live later this week over on our Twitch channel.
"We plan to show off the new features for PS4 as well as give our primer for those not familiar with the mode on Thursday, July 24th at 11:30 AM Pacific and 5:30 PM Pacific."
The studio's Arne Meyer recently told DigitalSpy that future DLC will "definitely not" be of the single player variety.
New DLC packs for the game will be cross-buy between the original PlayStation 3 version which was released last year and the Remastered edition which launches next week on PlayStation 4 meaning that if you own both copies and buy the DLC on one you'll unlock it on the other.
Meyer has said that it would be a "disservice" to fans and to Naughty Dog not to at least consider the possibilities for a sequel but cautioned that as the studio's games tell individual stories, it's possible they may not revisit the franchise.
The Last of Us was the first Naughty Dog game to receive single player DLC in the form of the Left Behind missions and the game has sold a record breaking (for a PS3 exclusive) seven million copies ahead of its PS4 launch.
