Guacamelee! STCE Has Arrived, Here’s a Launch Trailer

July 2, 2014 by Tony Ponce

The Super Turbo Championship Edition hits PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Wii U

This is the week that DrinkBox Studios' Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition arrives on Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo platforms. The Mexican-themed Metroidvania originally launched last year on PS3 and PS Vita, but this updated build includes a host of new levels and enemies, plus the DLC that has been released since then. All the extras add up to a beefy package priced at $14.99 on all platforms.

Guacamelee! is the story of Juan Aguacate, an agave farmer who dons a mystical luchador and gains the power to travel between the worlds of the living and the dead. It's a very light-hearted title that pays heavy tribute to various popular games that have inspired it, from billboards that advertise luchadors modeled after the Mario bros. and Mega Man to statues reminiscent of the bird-like Chozo from the Metroid series. It was well received in its original incarnation, and this update promises to be even better with all its additions.

Guacamelee! STCE first landed on PS4 yesterday, with the Xbox One, 360, and Wii U vesions arriving today.
