The human male, arguably the ugliest and weirdest looking characters in World of Warcraft, is being given a makeover in the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion pack for the game. Blizzard unveiled today the new faces that are set to grace the game’s default characters so they no longer look like potatoes with a facsimile of a face.
In the studio’s latest ArtCraft post, which highlights the changes and improvements coming to the Warlords of Draenor expansion pack, Blizzard acknowledged that the original character model had “odd proportions and facial geometry.”
The new ArtCraft post follows the reveal of the Tanaan Jungle as the expansion's new starting area.
“As with the previous model redesigns, our goal here was to honor the silhouette and style of the original, while increasing fidelity and fixing some of the big issues we’d identified,” wrote the game’s art director Chris Robinson.
“The male Human has long been a source of criticism from some of you for his odd proportions and face geometry. We’ve taken great care to ensure we’re not changing so much that he looks completely unlike anything you’d expect, while also correcting some of the more glaring problems. We hope you enjoy the results!
The developer states that despite providing an early look of these new models, readers should be aware that they are still unfinished and that there are more improvements to come.
