Dessert-Themed Shmup Ice Cream Surfer Coming to Wii U eShop

June 26, 2014 by Tony Ponce

PC / Mac original version is currently available on Desura for $5.99.

Got a sweet tooth? Then consider checking out the sugary shoot 'em up Ice Cream Surfer, the story of a boy who literally surfs the skies on an ice cream cone while battling the evil Brocolli's ambitions to get kids to eat their veggies. The game is currently available on PC and Mac via the distribution repository Desura for $5.99. However, Nintendo World Report has learned that developer Dolores Entertainment will be porting it to the Wii U eShop in the near future.

Ice Cream Surfer is based on a webcomic of the same name by Stephen Hausdorff. It's quite adorable if you want to give it a shot. As for the game, it features 16-bit inspired pixel art, five playable characters with unique abilities, and giant vegetable bosses. In short, it's your typical shmup, but with a flavorful twist.

The game is currently up for vote on Steam Greenlight, so rep it if you want to see it on the service. Meanwhile, hang on tight for further Wii U announcements.
