Crytek Denies Financial Issues, New Rumors Appear They Aren’t Paying Employees

June 24, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

We hope everything’s OK in Crytek, and that they aren’t trying to cover up any issues, either.

Crytek has flatly denied rumors that the company is encountering financial difficulties, although there’s still reason to believe everything’s not A-OK.

Crytek released a statement indicating that they are still working on several of their own games, including Homefront: The Revolution, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, Arena of Fate, and Warface. In addition, they continue to work with licensees of the CryEngine, among whom, as we earlier noted, was Roberts Space Industries for Star Citizen.

Looking back, the original rumor indicated as well that Avni Yerli was waiting on a new source of money, so this hints at a possible new investor. They had also named no less than Wargaming.com as a potential buyer.

However, there are separate reports about Crytek employees not receiving their pay. One source revealed this info before E3, about Crytek Bulgaria, based in its capital of Sofia, not receiving salaries for two months running. Separate rumors are also coming out of Crytek UK. Apparently, staff are unhappy because management has not been transparent about these concerns.

If not Wargaming.com, another rumor posits that a Chinese company might be interested in buying Crytek. Perhaps Tencent? They just flexed their muscles to buy Riot Games.

We certainly hope everything at Crytek is OK, but more importantly, hope the company isn’t trying to cover something up. We’ll keep you up to date on the latest developments.
