The recently announced free Mercedes-Benz DLC for Mario Kart 8 will no longer be exclusive to Japan. Nintendo of America took to Twitter a few days ago that Mario's new ride will become available in North America later this summer.

Don't fear that our friends across the pond won't be left out in the cold. Nintendo of Europe made a similar announcement for its region as well.
This content will allow Mario and company to race around in a vehicle modeled after the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA coming out later this year. The kart version winds up looking like a high-end Fischer-Price Power Wheels — there certainly doesn't seem to be any room for cupholders in that tiny cockpit!
Mario Kart 8 is available right now for Wii U.
