As you can imagine, Masahiro Sakurai, who was not present for this year’s E3, had a little more activity than usual, posting images and new information for Super Smash Bros 4 for Wii U and 3DS.
In fact, he started Sunday, revealing that Meloetta, who wasn’t in the Smash Direct, will be joining all the other Pokemon who appeared in the Direct for Smash.
On Monday, he revealed a new screen of theNew Super Mario Bros stage, for the 3DS version. There is an event in this stage that fills it with coins, but you’ll have to go jumping up and down platforms to get them. No word if the coins give you anything useful in the fights.
On Tuesday, he reconfirmed the two reveals from Nintendo’s Digital Event. Mii Fighters and Lady Palutena, straight out of Kid Icarus Uprising, will be joining the game. On the same date, he posted about the Super Smash Bros Invitational.
On Wednesday, he posted a screen featuring Pac-Man, in his classic pizza pie appearance. Pac-Man can change to this form and his more limbed form at will.
On Thursday, things died down on the E3 front. He showed a screenshot of Palutena playing Home-Run Contest, and revealed that this mini-game is coming back for the 3DS version with some improvements. You will be able to compare your skill in this game with other players via your Smash Power.
Finally, today he shared a wonderful screenshot of Mario, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Sonic together in one stage. It goes without saying, but Sakurai himself finds it incredible that Nintendo managed to bring all four characters together in one game.
Super Smash Bros 4 is coming to 3DS October 7, and to the Wii U this winter.
