The first game to be showcased at E3 2014 as a part of Microsoft’s press conference was none other than Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the cross-gen first person shooter from Sledgehammer Games.
Sledgehammer had a developer up on stage to showcase actual gameplay footage of the title, which took place during the game’s prologue. On show was an invasion of Seoul, South Korea via futuristic dropships that are somewhat reminiscent of the ones belonging to the Space Marines in Warhammer 40,000.
The vertical slice of the game, which was played on the Xbox One, introduced us to some of the game’s supporting cast of characters, one of whom (spoiler alert!) loses his life after his arm gets jammed in a VTOL aircraft’s doors.
Watch the trailer below for the first gameplay footage of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
The game is slated for release later this year on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and PS4.
