Mortal Kombat X will be getting a big showcase at E3 2014 next week, and its creator Ed Boon has confirmed on Twitter that the showcase will include the reveal of two all new characters who will be joining the arena for the first time ever.
Here’s what he wrote:
RT @Y21__ @noobde are we going to see new fighters in the MK X? EB: YES! Two of my new favoriates will be at E3 !!
— Ed Boon (@noobde) June 3, 2014
The news of the character reveal follows the game’s first trailer, which depicted long-time series favorites Sub-Zero and Scorpion fighting each other in a battle to the death. Be sure to watch that here. The trailer itself is scored with a new original song by Wiz Khalifa, so that alone makes it well worth the watch.
According to the developers at NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat X “combines cinematic presentation with all new gameplay to deliver the most brutal Kombat experience ever, offering a new fully-connected experience that launches players into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy.”
More than just a follow-up to the long-running series, players will have the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style. Players step into an original story showcasing some of the game’s most prolific characters including Scorpion and Sub-Zero, while introducing new challengers that represent the forces of good and evil and tie the tale together.
