Disney Infinity 2.0 Trailer Has Merida Face-Off Against Maleficent

June 2, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Pixar’s Scottish princess takes on Maleficent’s dark magic.

Brave's heroine Merida and Sleeping Beauty's villain Maleficent, currently appearing in the movie of the same name, have been shown squaring off against each other in a new trailer for Disney Infinity 2.0.

Maleficent casts powerful dark magic from the top of her castle to destroy the environment and create vines to slow Merida down while the red haired princess shoots enemies on horseback and fights them on foot.

While Merida and Maleficent are new characters to the Disney Infinity universe, the main additions announced so far are Marvel heroes. Iron Man, Black Widow, and Thor will be available as part of 2.0's starter pack while Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye will be sold separately.

The involvement of Merida and Maleficent in the game was confirmed last week. According to the game's exectutive producer John Vignocchi, 2.0 will launch in September, a month ahead of the next installment of Skylanders, which is set for October.
