Dragon Age 3: Inquisition: Introducing Therinfal Redoubt

May 31, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Bioware has shared a new backdrop for the Inquisition to enter for God knows what.

We have a newly revealed location for Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. Introducing the training ground of the Seekers of Truth, Therinfal Redoubt.

A bit of a fixer-upper now, but once served the Seekers as a premiere training ground. #DAI pic.twitter.com/lwDkaZ7B0t

We know little about Therinfall but the Seekers are not unfamiliar. Appearing in every Dragon Age game thus far, they are a secretive organization that keeps checks on the Templars, under direction from the Divine in Val Royeaux. Subsequently, they are hated among the Templars, but this is more a professional rivalry than anything else, as the Seekers are tasked with protecting the Chantry, as well as to keep tabs on corruption.

You can think of the Seekers as the FBI of the Dragon Age universe. A review of their history reveals that the Seekers were themselves one with the Templars, when they were known as an earlier incarnation of the Inquisition. Under the Nevarran Accord, senior members of this Inquisition were assigned as Seekers, and subsequently Templay elite get promoted to this position. Much like an FBI agent, Seekers have authority that go beyond usual Templar boundaries, and senior Seekers outrank any Templars.

Of course, we should not have to remind you, but one of your closest and most important party members, Cassandra Pentaghast, is herself a Seeker, joining the order under extraordinary circumstances. Therinfal Redoubt is actually her old training grounds, so it should be interesting if the Inquisition finds their way back to it for – God knows what?

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition will be out for the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4 on October 7, 2014.
