The Elder Scrolls Online: Public Test Server to be Opened to All

May 28, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Anyone with ‘an active ESO account will be able to test on the PTS in the future.’

ZeniMax has announced that it is to open the Public Test Server (PTS) for The Elder Scrolls Online once it's brought back online.

Communiy manager Jessica Folsom simply said "We will be" on the TESO forums.

This was expanded upon on the TESO Elite community site where the developer said that they brought down PTS yesterday "to begin preparation for the next testing cycle. As part of the maintenance, all PTS characters will be wiped and we’ll be configuring the server so that everyone with an active ESO account will be able to test on the PTS in the future. We’ll let you know when it comes back up with new features and content. Thanks for all your help testing—we’re looking forward to more of your feedback!"

The PTS is used for identifying and reporting bugs in the game.

The Elder Scrolls Online was recently delayed on console by six months and speaking to CVG, Bethesda PR director Pete Hines had this to say on the matter:

"We're not happy about it – obviously we much rather have the console version out in June. But it seemed like the right thing to do, and we did spend a little time working with the console folks to try to come up with some kind of a thing so that the folks who couldn't play it could buy the PC version and then add a next-gen console version later for a lot less money. That seemed like something that was worth working on before we announced the delay. So maybe that's the answer to your question – trying to come up with something to say, 'Look, this sucks and we're going to try to do this to [compensate].'

PC and Mac players have been able to play the game since April.
