Microsoft has no plans to spin-off the Xbox division, CEO Satya Nadella revealed during the Code Conference.
Asked directly whether he will sell Xbox Nadella commented, as quoted by The Verge, that, "I have no intent to do anything different on Xbox than we are doing today."
His remarks follow comments by Microsoft co-founder and former CEO Bill Gates who said that he would "absolutely" support Nadella should he choose to rid the company of the Xbox division.
Former Xbox division head and one-time possible Microsoft CEO Stephen Elop said he would consider a spin-off while co-founder Paul Allen has called for Xbox and other non-essential company assets should be sold.
However, following Nadella's promotion, the company's entertainment sectors were grouped together under former Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer.
Microsoft will launch a Kinect-free Xbox One model for $399 on June 9th, the same day as its E3 media briefing which has been titled 'Xbox: Game On' and will be streamed online.
Nadella's remarks are included in the video below.
