What If Valve Made Their Own Smash Bros? Introducing Super Smash Bros Sourcce

May 28, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

We think it would go something like this

What would it be like if Valve made their own Super Smash Bros? A fan makes a neat little CG video we can only describe as Super Smash Bros Source.

Presumably ready to face off in this scenario are Half Life’s Gordon Freeman, Team Fortress’ The Heavy, Portal’s Chell, a L4D zombie for good measure, and a bunch of shooter guys from shooting games.

Honestly, the idea looks good here, but if there’s anything we can gleam from Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, it’s that you just can’t copy Smash and expect a hit, even if do make a highly expanded and souped up version of it that dramatically diverges from the source. In any case, the unspoken truth here is they can all meet up in a shooter anyway, or at least a first person perspective game. And more people would want to play that game too.

What do you guys think though? Could a Smash Bros Source be a kingmaker for Steam? We welcome your comments and reactions (nothing too foul, please) below.
