Cancelled Wii Game Sadness Now Coming to Wii U

May 20, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The game was announced early in the Wii’s life cycle as an exclusive.

Sadness, a game announced early in the Wii's lifecycle and originally intended as an exclusive for the console, has been picked up by two developers and is now coming to Wii U.

The game was described as a black and white horror title in which a Ukrainian woman was tasked with protecting her blind, paranoid schizophrenic, narcoleptic son in the days before World War I.

Polish developer Nibris eventually cancelled but now HullBreach Studios and Cthulhi Games, currently developing different Wii U games, have come together to make Sadness a reality.

Jeremy Kleve of Cthulhi Games told NintendoLife, "Without a doubt, the original concept is a huge inspiration to us. We will be sticking to the original idea pretty closely, but don't be surprised if there are some changes here and there in terms of characters, mechanics, and setting. Visually, the new Sadness will retain the Gothic noir scheme with a few exceptions."

Sadness is set for a 2016 release.
