Guerilla Games has announced that Killzone: Shadow Fall will see the addition of four-player co-op next month with a new expansion called Intercept.
Intercept will be free to owners of Shadow Fall’s $19.99 season pass, and its developers will release a standalone version of the game later this year. The expansion pack is set to add four different maps based on campaign locations.
As far as the story goes, players will be taking on the roles of agents within the ISA’s Vektan Security Agency in a group called the Intelligence Squad Alpha. Their mission is to intercept Helghast intelligence missives and send them back to VSA headquarters.
Unlike Left 4 Dead and Far Cry 3’s co-op multiplayer mode, Intercept is going to be a wave-based arena combat experience in which players fend off against waves of enemy forces for as long as it takes to establish a hacking uplink and send the data back to the base.
Players will be able to play as four classes: Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Tactician, all of whom must work together to increase their Team Score, which measures how close they are to setting up the uplink.
