After all the rising hype, it seems there is unfortunate, but logical reason to believe that Final Fantasy 15 is not going to come out this year, and not until after March 2015, for that matter. This is more speculation than rumor, but the doubt is, unfortunately, well-founded.
This is based on a tweet from Macquarrie analyst David Gibson, who was there to report and analyze Square Enix’s financial report. The company has lowered their forecast for the upcoming year from 17.23 million units last year to 12 million units.
Square Enix forecast of game units falling to 12m implies no FF15 in the year ending Mar 2015

Square Enix made this lowered forecast in spite of new plans to enter China via Final Fantasy 14 for PC, as well as Final Fantasy Agito and a major Final Fantasy smartphone game for the region. They’ve also confirmed plans to release Murdered: Soul Suspect for Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4 on June 3.
For further context, this forecast comes in light of a profitable financial year, with net income of 6.5 billion yen, around $ 65 million. So, the company was able to recover from its previously disastrous year, mostly thanks for Final Fantasy 14.
So what could be the reason for the lowered forecast? It would seem the biggest culprit is none other than Final Fantasy 15 not coming out for the financial year. Again, to be clear, this an educated guess and not a leak from alleged insider sources. Square was apparently mum on the game to investors at their annual meeting.
It’s quite the rough news for Final Fantasy 15 overall. For those who may not remember, May 2016 marks the 10 year anniversary of the game being announced. Yes, seriously. Frankly, we hope this fear is unfounded, and we really hope Square Enix can step up and stave off the rumor sooner rather than later. We hope to bring you more positive news about Final Fantasy 15 in the near future.
Final Fantasy 15 is slated for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
