Tropico 5 Shows Off Multiplayer for the First Time

May 9, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Watch the first ever footage of Tropico 5’s multiplayer mode.

Kalypso Media has posted a new trailer for Tropico 5, this time showcasing the game’s multiplayer aspects, which include competitive and cooperative multiplayer. Tropico 5 is the first game in the series with a multiplayer mode, and all previous titles were solo affairs.

You and three friends can create a communist utopia together or tear each other down one by one.

Wondering what the game’s about? Well, in Tropico 5, you return to the remote island nation of Tropico to expand your reign from the early colonial period to beyond the 21st century. The game will offer an all new set of challenges, including advanced trading mechanics, technology, and scientific research. It’s an upgrade of the Tropico formula, if you’ve ever played any games in the franchise.

Tropico 5 will be available for the PC on May 23 via Steam, and at retail on June 3. Mac and Xbox 360 versions are also being planned for the summer, followed by a PlayStation 4 version for the fall.
