In TechCrunch Disrupt, Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe spoke to the audience and revealed that one possibility that can happen from the company's acquisition by Facebook is an MMO with one billion people in VR.
"This is going to be an MMO where we want to put a billion people in VR," he specifically said. He does acknowledge that it will take a bigger network than the biggest one that exists today. However, he notes that joining with Facebook is a great start since they already have billions of users.
Interestingly, he touched upon how games centric the Oculus would be. While the company will remain committed to games, he noted that focusing on the medium might limit their reach since he game systems don't sell as well as mobile devices in a general scale.
The acquisition of the company by Facebook was announced this March. Recently, the company has been embroiled in a controversy with Zenimax over the technology behind the Oculus Rift.
