Techland’s Hellraid Gears Up for PS4 and Xbox One

April 30, 2014 by Yesika Reyes

The game will run on a new engine and will be released on the latest generation of consoles in addition to PC.

Techland announced in a press release that their upcoming game Hellraid will also be released on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One alongside its PC release this fall. Additionally, players can get the chance to play the game eariler through Steam Early Access.

Thanks to the game's new engine Chrome Engine 6, Techland is able to add additional gameplay features that were boasted in the game's trailer above. It is the ending used in their other upcoming survival horror Dying Light. The engine allows them to utilize new technology that will improve lighting, physics, particles, A.I, and so much more.

"Hellraid will offer three different game modes. In the Story Mode, players will explore the world and try to repel forces of Hell. The highly-replayable Mission Mode will put more focus on arcade-style fun of climbing up leaderboards, creating the longest combos and beating high scores, while the completely new Arena Mode will offer survival gameplay with waves of deadly demonic hordes to fend off. All these modes will be available in both single-player and 2-4 players co-op," the release reads.

Players will also have more customization options with armor, clothes, and accessories. There will also be a class-free skill tree divided into "intertwined parths of combat, magic, and agility" that will be available to players.

Techland also improved the game's combat system most notably with one and two handed melee weapons, destructble objects, and environmental traps. Here are some images of the game utilizing the new engine:

The title's release has also been delayed previously. Additionally, you can check out the Q&A we posted with the developers for more information.

The game was originally intended as a mode for Dead Island before it became an individual game. The Steam Early Access will be out sometime this year, while the full release will be out in 2015 for all platforms.
