The Capcom development studio is known for several franchises and they’ve been in the video game industry for decades. However, while some may not be familiar with the development studio’s name, they are likely familiar with their hit survival horror franchise, Resident Evil. This studio captured lightning in a bottle when they brought out Resident Evil as it gave players a new terrifying survival horror game on the original PlayStation.
Now years later along with several video game console generations passed, Resident Evil is just as important and iconic of a video game franchise. There have been several mainline installments released along with spin-offs. Not to mention that there was a blockbuster film franchise released into the market that made some mega dollars. While this Resident Evil film adaptation series was not as directly adapted from the video games, it had a strong following.
However, now we’re gearing up to see the next reboot of the Resident Evil movie. We don’t have any trailers for this film or fine details of what potential changes there might be, but we do know that this is a film adapted from the first Resident Evil game. Again it remains to be seen if it’s a true adaptation of the first game or if there are any liberties taken to adjust the narrative.
With that said, we do know when the film is set to debut in theaters unless any delays pop up. Currently, this upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot is slated to release on September 3, 2021. Meanwhile, fans of the franchise can also mark down their calendars for the next Resident Evil video game, Resident Evil Village which is slated to release on May 7, 2021, for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X/S platforms.
