Unsocketing gems in Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls can be ungodly expensive, especially with the new types of gems that exist in the game. A Flawless Royal gem costs as much as 500,000 in Gold to unsocket from a weapon or piece of armor.
Needless to say, players aren’t too happy about the costs, which were largely based on the Player Test Realms and players who had hundreds of millions of gold to their name, instead of average players with only a few million gold.
to that end, Blizzard community manager Grimiku has informed the public on the official battle.net forums that the studio intends to reduce the cost to unsocket top tier gems in a future patch, and that the goal of this change is to help balance unsocketing costs with other resource sinks and make the act of unsocketing a top tier gem feel less punitive.
The values below are what’s proposed:
• Flawless Imperial from 150k to 125k
• Royal from 250k to 150k
• Flawless Royal from 500k to 175k
The studio does not have a time frame for when to expect these changes, but we’re told that it is in the works.
