There have been dozens of Star Wars games over the years but according to Lucasfilm they, along with the comics and books which make up the Expanded Universe, are no longer considered canon.
In an update on the Star Wars website, it was announced that Lucasfilm has put together a team which will be dedicated to ensuring that all official Star Wars stories are coherent and fit into an interwoven narrative thread.
This means that anything other than six the Star Wars movies and The Clone Wars animated series has essentially been abandoned in favour of what's to come.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy commented:
"We have an unprecedented slate of new Star Wars entertainment on the horizon. We're set to bring Star Wars back to the big screen, and continue the adventure through games, books, comics, and new formats that are just emerging. This future of interconnected storytelling will allow fans to explore this galaxy in deeper ways than ever before."
Presumably, the forthcoming EA Star Wars games, including the Battlefront reboot, will have to adhere to the lore established by Disney.
The next Star Wars movies, the untitled Episode 7, is in production for a December 2015 release date. Star Wars: Battlefront is expected to launch next summer.
But LEGO: Star Wars will always be canon, always.
